A Christian seer and mystic, who rose from humble beginnings to become renowned for his ability to diagnose and recommend treatments for a multitude of ills, Edgar Cayce was an initiator of today's worldwide spirituality movement.

During his lifetime he gave over 14,000 trance discourses, called readings, in which he not only contacted the subconscious minds of other individuals to help them recover from psychological and physical disorders, he was also able to contact the realm of Universal Consciousness and bring back from the Akashic Records insights and information relative to individuals' and humanity's purpose for being on the earth.

Profoundly spiritual in nature, the philosophy in the Cayce material places Christ at the apex of our evolution in consciousness, the culmination of many purposeful lifetimes spent upon the earth. The Jesus soul is seen as the great initiate and elder brother who, as a living example and through his teaching, came to help humanity return to conscious union with the Divine.

In addition to his many readings on health issues, for which he has rightly become known as the father of the holistic health movement in North America, Cayce emphasized the importance of working with the spirit-mind-body modality in all matters to do with personal growth and human interaction. He stressed the importance of prayer and meditation in everyday life and, in response to requests from a dedicated group of seekers, he provided a detailed course of study and application for individuals interested in spiritual development. Called A Search for God, it has been a source of guidance and inspiration to countless people worldwide.

Using his extraordinary psychic abilities, Cayce was able to look back beyond recorded history and provide us with details about some of the great civilizations of the past, such as the Atlantean and the Egyptian. As the title of one of the many books written about him emphasizes, he is also widely known as the sleeping prophet for his many trance state predictions and prophecies, including those that relate to these current times.

Edgar Cayce was perhaps the first to state that leading up to and throughout the early years of our millennium, we would experience changes, challenges and opportunities related to the progression from one astrological age to another, the Piscean to the Aquarian. The Cayce focus in this regard is on the opportunities being afforded us throughout this period to awaken to the reality of our true identity, the Christ-self within. Its outreach activities have given rise to a number of international centres, including Edgar Cayce Canada (E.C.C.), that offer conferences, lectures, workshops and resource material to people around the globe.
